Apple says iOS 9 already running on over 50% devices
Announcement comes ahead of launch of iPhone 6s and 6s Plus on Sept 25
Apple has
announced that users are upgrading to its all-new mobile operating
system - iOS 9 - faster than ever. In a statement the company said that
over 50% of the devices eligible to receive the update are already
running iOS 9.
"iOS 9 is also off to an amazing start, on pace to be downloaded by more users than any other software release in Apple's history," said Philip Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing.
The announcement comes ahead of the launch of Apple's iPhone 6s and 6s Plus on September 25th across major global markets.
Apple has a history of brisk software uptake, with half of all iOS devices running on iOS 8 within a week of its availability last year, before stalling badly in the second week. However, the same fate isn't expected of iOS 9 with Apple keeping the file download size and bugs under check.
The company continues to remain mum on when it will launch the new iPhones in India.
