Micromax launches three affordable 4G phones
Both the Micromax Canvas Blaze 4G and Canvas Fire 4G are priced at Rs 6,999 while the Canvas Play 4G will cost Rs 12,499.
Micromax has announced three affordable 4G phones which include the Canvas Blaze 4G which The Mobile Indian spotted on the company's website before its launch. The other two smartphones which were launched are named as Canvas Fire 4G and Canvas Play 4G.
Note that the Canvas Fire 4G was announced earlier this month itself.
Both the Micromax Canvas Blaze 4G and Canvas Fire 4G are priced at Rs 6,999 while the Canvas Play 4G will cost Rs 12,499. All the three handsets run on Android Lollipop operating system.
The Micromax Canavs Blaze 4G and Fire 4G have many things in common including 4.5-inch FWVGA display, 1GB RAM, 8GB inbuilt memory, 32GB microSD card slot, 5 megapixel rear camera with Flash and 2 megapixel front camera. However, the Canvas Blaze 4G has the quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 (MSM8909) processor and a 2000 mAh battery while the Fire 4G comes with the quad-core MediaTek MTK6735 chipset and an 1850 mAh battery.
The Micromax Canvas Play 4G, as its price suggests, offers much bettery features. To start with the phone has a 5.5-inch IPS display with high definition resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Besides, it has a 13 megapixel auto focus rear camera with LED Flash, a 5 megapixel front camera, a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU, 2GB RAM, 16GB internal memory, an expandable storage slot and a 2,820mAh battery.
Earlier this month while talking to The Mobile Indian, Micromax had revealed that all its Canvas series phones will have 4G connectivity.
"We have always endeavored to offer products based on certain needs of the consumer. Moving forward, we will lead the 4G adoption in the country by converting all our popular value Canvas series to 4G. Canvas Fire 4G is the first in a series of such launches," said Vineet Taneja , chief executive officer, Micromax Informatics, told The Mobile Indian then.
With major telecom operators gearing up to launch their 4G networks by this year end or in early next year, handset manufacturers are also on a spree to grab the largest share of the 4G device pie. Naturally, Micromax which is the No 2 handset maker in India don't want to lag behind.
But it is not the affordable basket where Micromax is putting all its eggs. Earlier this month, Micromax partnered with Mediatek, a leading chip maker, to make high end 4G smartphones. Micromax is infact set to launch a smartphone on Mediatek's Helio X10 chipset.
With festive season round the corner, Micromax may announce the high end smartphone anytime soon but we will have to wait and watch.
