Apple's First Android App: What You Need to Know
It's just Apple's way of being neighborly.
The company's first ever app designed to help Android users ditch their devices in favor of iPhones has gone live in the Google Play store.
Eddy Cue, Apple's senior vice president of Internet Software and
Services, joked at Apple's event last week the creation of the app was
just the "neighborly thing to do."
If you're entertaining the idea of changing teams, the app makes it
incredibly easy to transfer from your Android phone to a new iOS devices
with just a few steps.
The app promises to take care of migrating contacts, calendars, email,
messages and photos -- all without requiring users to save their
information anywhere before making the transition.
Working with Android 4.0 or newer, users can download the app from the Google Play
store, make sure their Wi-Fi is on and plug both devices into a power
source before following a few prompts that will enable them to move
their data from Android to iOS over a private Wi-Fi network.
Two can of course play that game. While Android
is used by more people worldwide, the operating system also has a guide
to make it easier for Apple loyalists to make the jump onto the turf of
the little green robot using Google Photos, Gmail, Google Play Music
Manager to help them get going on Android.
