Pre-Order New Moto 360, Moto X in U.K.
Motorola's new smartphone and smartwatch are making their way to the U.K.
The company on Wednesday started offering pre-orders for the Motorola Moto X and the Moto 360 smartwatch across the pond. The Moto X starts at 399 pounds ($618) unlocked, while the company's second-generation Moto 360 smartwatch costs 229 pounds to start. The Moto 360 is currently slated to ship in late September, while the Moto X should arrive in early October.
Motorola announced its new devices at a special press event in July. In the states, the Moto 360 is also on pre-order; it comes with a round screen and runs on Google's Android Wear platform. The Moto X, meanwhile, with its 5.7-inch screen and 21-megapixel camera, is already on sale here. The Android-based device also comes with a TurboPower charging feature that adds up to 10 hours of extra battery life in 15 minutes.
The Moto X Pure Edition, as it's known in the U.S., got 4 out of 5 stars in PCMag's review, earning high marks for its "attractive customization options," great sound and excellent call quality. It did, however, tend to "run warm" and comes with only "average battery life."
The Moto X is designed to compete with the countless flagship smartphones currently available or making their way to store shelves. Chief among them may be Apple's iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, which arrive in the U.S. and U.K. on Sept. 25. The Moto X is also facing off with Samsung's latest Galaxy Note, as well as the highly anticipated OnePlus 2.
